Bill’s restoration – the acquisition   Leave a comment

The car is a 1973 MGBGT that was purchased in New Jersey. Hooked up to Bill’s van the trip was very uneventful, with one exception. The car towed beautifully and there were no problems in transit.

Along the way, at the Maine Turnpike toll booth, Bill asked the attendant to ’get the lbc off my back!’ Thought it was so funny, he didn’t charge for the extra wheels.

Unfortunately a sense of humour was more that Bill needed at the border. Being unaware of the new rule that the paper work for the car had to be there 72 hrs before he arrived Bill had to settle in and wait it out.

He looked for storage and decided to stay the ’72 hrs. at the Uhaul owners place. He had a place to sleep, and ate and showered at the Irving BigStop just up the road.

He finally crossed the border with no further problems and headed home to NS. The car was stored outside for 2 years while he finished his ’73 B Roadster, that has been a fixture at the festival. Perhaps this new one will be as well known in years to come.

Next time: And so the restoration begins.
